The planet

One planet. Every block of it real.

Meadows, jungles, deserts, frozen flats and five kinds of sea on top; caves, magma and crystal beneath; and at the bottom, 3,000 metres down, the Heart Chamber. Here is what you will find.

Above ground and below the sea

Sixteen biomes, and caves that glow.

Each biome has its own ground, trees, flowers, weather, temperature and creatures, and the seas run from warm shallows to a trench two hundred metres deep.

Sunmeadland

Rolling meadows of flowers, oak and birch. Meadow horses, dune hens and burrowkits graze here, and it is where most villages settle.

Pinecrest Highlandsland

Cool pine and spruce forest over the hills, home to Pinewood bears and crag goats.

Skyreach Peaksland

Bare stone summits above the clouds, dusted with snow. The view goes on for kilometres.

Hoarfrost Flatsland

Snowfields at eighteen below, with permafrost under your boots and lonely spruce.

Emberwoodland

Crimson moss and red bloodwood trees: the forest that looks as if it is on fire in the afternoon sun.

Verdance Tangleland

Deep jungle of mahogany, teak and palms, so thick the light comes down green.

Mirefenland

Willow marsh, mud and mist, where every step squelches.

Brightsand Expanseland

Dunes at thirty-eight degrees. Dune lions hunt here, and something much bigger swims under the sand.

Rustmesaland

Red sand and ochre-clay mesas under a hard sky.

Ashfall Barrensland

Volcanic ash and black basalt at forty-two degrees. Bring water. Watch the ground.

Saltstrandland

Palm-lined beaches where the land slopes into the sea and the surf rolls in.

Tidewash Shallowssea

Warm, clear shallows over pale sand, full of darting fish and veil rays.

Coralreachsea

Reefs where the sunlight gets in, with reef darters and sunscales in the coral.

Kelpwood Deepsea

Forests of swaying kelp over gravel, where kelp wrasse hide and greyfin hunters patrol.

Wide Bluesea

The open ocean. Drift whales pass far below; glowbells rise from the dark at night.

Hadal Riftsea

The black trench, two hundred metres down, where the Kraken sleeps and trench eels wait.

Glowcap Hollowsunderground

Caves carpeted in violet glowing mushrooms: the first light you find underground.

Going down

Seven layers to the Heart Chamber.

Dig anywhere and keep digging. The crust gives you caves, ores, glowcaps and lost ruins; below it the mantle opens into lava lakes and seas of molten metal; then white heat, crushing pressure, the outer core where Coreforged alloys are born, the inner core and its Stellarite, and finally the Heart Chamber.

Every layer is hotter and heavier than the last, so every layer asks for a better suit, forged from what the one above gave you. Getting to the bottom is the long game.

Sky and sea

Weather that changes everything.

Storms

Clouds build and darken, rain comes and goes at random, and thunderstorms roll in with lightning you can hear coming.

Seas that move

Waves by depth and by weather, whitecaps in a storm, surf on the beaches, wakes behind you and rings where the raindrops land.

Day and night

Sunsets over the sea, then a sky full of stars, the northern lights, the odd shooting star, and other planets and moons hanging overhead.

Night creatures

Some things only come out after dark, like the Gloamstalker, which hunts in the dusk and can be tamed into a loyal guard.

From orbit

Fly high enough and the land falls away until the whole world curves into a planet below you, clouds and all.

Every world is new

A new world gets its own random seed, so its mountains, coasts and caves are yours alone. Share the seed and a friend gets the same planet.
