Build and craft

If you can imagine it, you can build it.

A cabin on the first night, a mine down to the mantle, a town with power and conveyors, a ship for the stars: every piece is made from what the planet gives you.

33 building pieces

Cubes, slabs, stairs and wedges, doors, lamps, pipes, cables and more, turned and placed exactly where you want them.

Nearly 300 materials

Every stone, wood, metal, gem and crystal on the planet builds with its own look and its own strength.

Alloys of your own

Melt and mix metals and minerals into materials the game has never seen, with properties worked out from what went in.

Tools by level

Flint tools by hand, copper at a Workbench, anything at the Forge. Better tools dig harder rock, faster.

Suits for the deep

Copper to cool you, iron and steel to hold the pressure, tungsten and your own alloys for the last kilometre to the core.

Blueprints and symmetry

Copy, mirror and paste whole buildings, and build both halves of anything at once.

Power and machines

Wire it up. Let it run.

Generators, solar panels, wind turbines and reactors make power; batteries store it; cable carries it, better the more conductive the metal. Put it to work with drills, smelters, pumps and conveyors, and every machine has its own screen showing what it is doing.

Eight ages mark how far your world has come, from the Kindling Age of flint and fire through Tinmelt, Anvil, Temper, Gearturn, Corelight and Voidward to the Nova Age. Reach a new age and new machines open up.

Glowing crystal at the planet's core
Corelight: the age of the core's own power

Living off the land

Farm it, cook it, tame it, trade it.

Farm to table

Sow seeds, keep them watered and bring in the harvest, then cook dishes in an oven or a pot. Good food gives you an edge.

Animals

Win creatures over with the food they like, name them, have them stay or follow, breed them, and collect eggs and wool. A tamed Gloamstalker guards you.

The Wayfarers

Villages with farmers, smiths, cooks, traders and elders going about their days. Talk to them, and barter anything by what it is worth.

Jobs and a growing village

Take jobs from villagers: fetch, build, explore, hunt a beast or guard a traveller. Help a village and it grows new houses and new trades.

The Codex

An in-game guide to everything you find: every material, station, tool, suit and creature, and what it is for.
