Is Mantlenaut free?
Yes. Mantlenaut is free to play, with no download and no pay to win. Everything that matters in the game is found, forged or earned in the world.
Later there may be optional extras, such as items other players make in the Store. They will always be optional, clearly priced, and they will never make anyone stronger.
When can I play?
Mantlenaut is being tested by a small group of alpha testers right now. It is coming soon to your browser and to Android: keep an eye on this site.
What can I play it on?
A computer (Windows, Mac, ChromeOS or Linux) in Chrome or Edge, or an Android phone or tablet in Chrome. An Android app is on the way too.
The first time you play, the game spends a few seconds testing your device and picks settings that suit it, from a light mode for older phones to full effects on a gaming PC. You can change them any time.
Do I need to download anything?
No. The game runs in the web page: no installer, no launcher. Your worlds and settings are kept in your browser on that device.
Can I use a controller or play on touch?
Yes. Keyboard and mouse, an Xbox-style controller (every menu works with it) or touch controls on a phone or tablet. You can remap the keys, tune the controller and change the touch layout.
Can I play with friends?
Yes: up to 32 players in one world. Host your world from the pause menu and share the join code or invite link. Friends can join from a browser or a phone.
Is it suitable for children?
Mantlenaut has monsters and combat, but no gore, and no open chat with strangers: online play is only with people who have your join code.
Player accounts are for ages 13 and over. Younger players can play without one; their worlds are simply kept on their device. Parents can contact us about anything at any time.
How are my worlds saved?
Worlds are saved in your browser on your device. You can export a world to a file to keep a copy or give it to a friend, and import one back in. Cloud saves are coming with player accounts.
Do you track me or show ads?
No ads and no trackers. The website counts visits without cookies, and the game sends us crash reports so we can fix problems. The details are in our privacy notice.
How do I join the alpha?
The alpha is invite-only for now. When the game opens, it will be free for everyone right here.
What bosses are there?
The Kraken in the deep sea and the Mantle Wurm under the deserts are in the game now, with many more on the way: see the monsters.
How do I get in touch or report a player?
Use the contact page. Choose "Report a player" to tell us about someone breaking the rules.
